A team player is someone who will unite for a cause other by sharing information and ideas and give them the means and the confidence to rest in them. So it is essentially a shared responsibility, each player on the team have for what they do.

A player from the other team unites for a cause by sharing information / ideas, empowers them and based confidence. So it is essentially a shared responsibility, each player on the team have for what they do. As in the words of Margaret Carty: "The good thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side."
To be a good team player, you will need some or all of these traits. You must:
Adaptable: You need to adapt and mold yourself to fit into the team. Be ready to help others and to learn and have the power to think outside the box. You need to reevaluate your role on the team occasionally.
Collaboration: Collaboration is the key to success. You have to face the challenges head on as a team. There should be a perfect coordination between the members and each of you has to offer, to work together without fuss. For a perfect collaboration, you need to be focused and results oriented. Your perceptions must be clear, transparent and visible to the entire team.
Agrees: You should be more than willing to give your 100%. Nothing can be done halfway. Do not hesitate to risk.
Competent: Being competent does not mean have the skills, but you can perform the job well.
Safe and reliable: You must be responsible and have good judgment skills. Also, leave room for someone to hold you accountable. Be consistent, while offering.
Discipline: Discipline is doing what you really do not want to do, so you can do what you really want. Be disciplined in your thinking, emotions and actions.
Communicative: Your communication with team members must be clear. Put it in writing, so that everyone is aware of what you fear there is confusion. Be confident and do not be nervous about saying what you feel. Also, believe in others before they believe in you.
Enthusiastic: You must infuse enthusiasm among team members, even during the drabbest year. Remember, enthusiasm is contagious.
Goal-centric: You must know the purpose of the team, the whole situation should be loud and clear. Always be ready to plant in whenever there is a requirement.
Problem Solver: When will our team to cope with changing conditions, not stressed or because something new is being tested worry. Consider different points of view and compromise when necessary. Do not be rigid, suggestions and to be open to others "and see that the result is impeccable. Strong team players are firm in their thoughts yet open to what others have to offer. Remember, do not enter the allegation mode when things go wrong, be quick on the identification of errors and fix them.
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. Ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." Avoid internal political and be loyal to the team. Value interdependence as it is the safest way to be a good team player and remember not to give up in terrible circumstances, but just to focus on your thinking. Getting along with others and support, recognize and accept their strengths and weaknesses and then you can wear the coat of a good team player.
